Get to know your sleep better!
FAQ Intro
We all know how important sleep is for our health and well being, yet many of us will sleep on a mattress years past it's prime. But where does the real rubber hit the road - the modern diet and lifestyle. Both of these issues cover the nutrition and the mechanics, however the reality is that most of us don't appreciate how poor our sleep quality has become. The change in our hormone levels from the time we were teenagers when sleep came so easy has left most of us wondering...
What is it really like to have deep sleep again?
With sleepyfields sleeping cream we can help you find the perfect night of sleep, but we are going to need your help. If you do NOT use some type of sleep monitoring device or application, we would highly encourage you to do so. Being able to see your sleep history is far more economical than you may realize. Some people learn that they already own devices that can provide some metrics, such as their CPAP machine or Apple watch.
If you are not going to rely on objective third party data, we would ask that you use our sleeping cream daily for at least three weeks and then discontinue use for two weeks. By the end of the second week, your normal sleep quality will return and you will be able to accurately reflect upon the difference. Have an experience you'd like to tell us about? We'd love to hear your stories! And naturally, your questions - so on with the show. Check back as the FAQ is continuing to grow.

Lotion. Where?
Another area where your participation is crucial is lotion application. It has amazed us how some people have responded by using the lotion in ways we didn't anticipate, but customers have found success in a variety of ways: both sides of the neck, wrists, back of the knees, soles of the feet, chest, and any combination. We have testimonies from people applying their lotion totally different from what we recommended. Some people have done so, because they woke up feeling groggy or they didn't think it was working. Don't give up for at least three weeks! In our experience people either simply feel the difference or they see the data and KNOW its working.
Wrists
The skin on the underside of the wrist is perfect for transdermal delivery. The skin here is thin and we also have numerous blood vessels near the skin surface.
Soles of Feet
The soles of our feet have thick skin, however there is a concentration of sweat glands on the soles of the feet, which makes our feet a great application site.
Neck
From customers feedback, anywhere on the neck seems to be effective. There is simply a tremendous amount of blood flow making the neck as effective as the chest.
Chest
Any area where we have high blood flow is a beneficial application point. It is not uncommon to learn of customers than no longer apply in multiple spots, but simply rub the same amount directly on their chest.
Thighs
The skin on the inside or "inner thigh", is slightly thinner and blood vessels are near the surface of the skin. This a great place for transdermal absorption of magnesium chloride. Alternatively you may wish to try the backside of your knee for this same reason.
Behind Ears
From the top of where the ear connects and down the side of the neck seems to be a very effective site.
When applying lotion, it's essential to...
Clean the Skin: Ensure the skin is clean and free of lotions or oils that might create a barrier.
Massage or Rub In: Gently massage or rub in the magnesium solution to enhance absorption.
Rotate Application Sites: Rotate the application sites to prevent skin irritation and allow different areas to be exposed.
Start with a Patch Test: If you're using a new product, consider doing a patch test on a small area of skin to check for any adverse reactions.
It's worth noting that individual responses to transdermal magnesium applications can vary. If you have concerns or specific health conditions, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating transdermal magnesium into your routine
It's the morning after - how do you feel? Are you having a hard time waking up? Two things to keep in mind. One, did you awake on your own or by an alarm? You may need to go to bed earlier. Many people are not accustomed to a full night's sleep, then the alarm will pull you out of a deep phase of sleep. However, two, you may have used too much or need to alter where you apply the lotion. Please don't give up! This phase is what we refer to getting "Dialed In".
Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes in the body, and it has been associated with promoting better sleep, including deep sleep. Here are several reasons why magnesium is considered critical for supporting quality sleep:
Nervous System Regulation: Magnesium plays a role in the regulation of the nervous system, including the function of neurotransmitters and the activity of the parasympathetic nervous system. This regulation can have a calming effect on the body and mind, promoting a state of relaxation conducive to sleep.
GABA Enhancement: Magnesium is thought to enhance the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that has inhibitory effects on the nervous system. GABA promotes relaxation and dampens neural activity, which can contribute to better sleep quality, including deep sleep.
Muscle Relaxation: Magnesium is known for its muscle-relaxing properties. It helps regulate muscle contractions and promotes muscle relaxation. Adequate magnesium levels may contribute to reduced muscle tension and help prevent conditions like restless legs syndrome, allowing the body to relax more effectively during sleep.
Melatonin Production: Magnesium may also influence the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Research suggests that magnesium supplementation may increase melatonin levels, helping to synchronize the body's internal clock and improve sleep patterns. Please NOTE: Sleepyfields lotion contains no melatonin or other hormones.
Stress Reduction: Magnesium has been linked to stress reduction. Chronic stress can interfere with sleep, and magnesium's role in modulating the stress response may indirectly contribute to improved sleep quality.
Cardiovascular Health: Magnesium is involved in the regulation of blood pressure and cardiovascular function. Maintaining optimal cardiovascular health is important for overall well-being and may indirectly support better sleep.
Is Magnesium really such a big deal for deep sleep?
Q1 Magnesium
What if I ROUTINELY do not get enough magnesium?
Q2 Magnesium
Why is this single nutrient such a big deal? In short, the modern life on the go diet is a serious problem. Why are so many people short on magnesium? The answer is the intake requires nuts, seeds, and leafy green vegetables!
What health issues are common among people who are chronically borderline magnesium deficient?
Magnesium deficiency, even when borderline or subclinical, may lead to a variety of health issues. Magnesium is involved in OVER 300 physiological processes, and its deficiency can impact different systems in the body. Common health issues associated with chronic borderline magnesium deficiency include:
It's important to note that symptoms of magnesium deficiency can be subtle, and individuals may not always recognize them. Moreover, certain conditions and factors, such as gastrointestinal disorders, certain medications, and high alcohol intake, can increase the risk of magnesium deficiency. If you suspect a magnesium deficiency or experience symptoms related to it, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional.
Muscle Weakness and Cramps: Magnesium is crucial for muscle function and relaxation. Inadequate magnesium levels may contribute to muscle weakness, cramps, and spasms.
Fatigue and Weakness: Magnesium is involved in energy metabolism, and its deficiency can lead to increased fatigue and weakness.
Sleep Disturbances: Low magnesium levels have been linked to sleep problems, including difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. Magnesium's role in muscle relaxation and its impact on neurotransmitters like GABA contribute to its influence on sleep quality.
Mood Disorders: Magnesium deficiency has been associated with an increased risk of mood disorders, including anxiety and depression. Magnesium plays a role in neurotransmitter regulation and has a calming effect on the nervous system.
Cardiovascular Issues: Magnesium is essential for maintaining normal heart function and blood pressure. Deficiency may contribute to irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias) and hypertension.
Osteoporosis and Bone Health: Magnesium is involved in bone formation and density. Chronic deficiency may contribute to a higher risk of osteoporosis and bone-related issues.
Headaches and Migraines: Magnesium deficiency has been linked to an increased incidence of headaches and migraines. Magnesium's role in blood vessel function and neurotransmitter regulation may play a role in headache prevention.
Nausea and Vomiting: In severe cases of magnesium deficiency, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting may occur.
Hypokalemia (Low Potassium): Magnesium deficiency can lead to impaired potassium balance, contributing to low potassium levels (hypokalemia), which may manifest as muscle weakness, fatigue, and other symptoms.
Insulin Resistance: Magnesium is involved in insulin metabolism, and deficiency may contribute to insulin resistance, potentially increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Commercially available over-the-counter lotions typically contain ingredients that are generally regarded as safe (GRAS) for the general population. However, individuals can have sensitivities or allergies to certain ingredients, and there may always be some potential interactions with prescription medications. However, sleepyfields contains none of the common bad actors found in lotions that may cause allergic reactions or have contraindications with certain medications. The following are things to avoid:
Fragrances: Fragrances are a common cause of skin allergies. Many lotions contain synthetic fragrances or essential oils, and some people may be sensitive or allergic to these compounds. Fragrance-free or hypoallergenic options are available for individuals with sensitivities.
Preservatives: Certain preservatives, such as parabens, can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some individuals. Parabens are used to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold in cosmetic products.
Synthetic Colors: Artificial colors in lotions may cause skin irritation in some individuals. Opting for products without added colors can help reduce the risk of allergic reactions.
Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) and Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs): These ingredients, often used for exfoliation, may cause increased sensitivity, especially in individuals with sensitive or reactive skin.
Topical Antibiotics: Lotions containing antibiotics, such as neomycin or bacitracin, may cause allergic reactions in some individuals. It's essential to be cautious, especially if there is a known allergy to these antibiotics.
Retinoids: Lotions with retinoids (retinol, tretinoin) can be irritating to some individuals, especially those with sensitive skin. It's important to follow usage guidelines and consult with a healthcare professional if using other topical or oral medications containing retinoids.
Salicylic Acid: While generally well-tolerated, salicylic acid can cause irritation in some individuals. It's commonly found in products targeting acne.
Lanolin: Derived from sheep's wool, lanolin is a common moisturizing ingredient. However, some individuals may be allergic to lanolin, so patch testing is advisable.
Collagen: While collagen is often used in anti-aging lotions, some individuals may be sensitive to it. Collagen allergies are rare but possible.
Individuals with pre-existing skin conditions, allergies, or those taking prescription medications should carefully review the ingredient list and consult with a healthcare professional if they have concerns. You may wish to use lotion on only a small area of skin before any widespread use to help identify potential allergic reactions. Our sleep lotion contains no known allergens or any active ingredients with known drug interactions. Please follow usage instructions and consult with a healthcare provider if there are concerns about potential interactions with prescription medications.
